VERNA CHOPIN BOYD

Verna C. Boyd entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 69. She was a native of Gretna, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Verna was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School, and she was employed as a caregiver. Beloved mother of Shawn M. Boyd Sr., and Brandon Boyd. Daughter of the late Melvin Cambrice, Sr., and Vernita Chopin. Sister of Gaynell Vontoure, Shewanna Cambrice, Lenora George, Jessica Willis, Marie Davis, Robert Cambrice, Henry Cambrice, Wilbert Cambrice, Leroy Hodges, Myron Ervin, and the late Verna Chopin, and Melvin Cambrice, Jr. Mother in law of Tyeshia Boyd, also survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church,1509 Monroe Street, Gretna, LA on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Orin Grant, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
