THELMA GRAY JOHNSON

Thelma Gray Johnson entered eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Monday, August 5, 2024, at the age of 96. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Harvey, LA. Thelma obtained her GED through the Jefferson Parish Public School System and received her diploma with the graduates of John Ehret High School; she later attended Moler Beauty College. Thelma was a faithful member of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang with the Mass Choir. She was also the director of John Francis Chorus and Macedonia Baptist Church Male Chorus. Beloved wife of the late Alvin Johnson, Sr. Devoted mother of Sharon St.Cyr, JoAnn Lee, Velma Stamps, Doris Brown, Alvina William, Alvin (Winnie) Johnson, Jr., Titus (Kim) Johnson, Anjanette J. (Wellington S., III) Beaulieu, and the late Wilmer Hall, Jr., Joycelyn Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, and Mark Johnson. Stepmother of Betty Brignac. Daughter of the late George Elliott Gray, Sr. and Velma Redds Gray. Sister of George Elliott Gray, Jr. and the late Enola Gray Strugg. Sister-in-law of the late Delores Gray and Benjamin Strugg, also survived by 32 grandchildren. 42 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church 817 Grefer St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman, officiating.
