Susan Ann Carey passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the age of 68 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Bridge City, LA. “Susie Q”, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was employed as a s welder with Avondale Shipyard, Jefferson Parish DOT, and a dietary aide at Ochsner Hospital. Beloved mother of Star Rosechelle Etrelle Carey. Loving grandmother of Gabriel (Ciara) Davis and Riley Warthen. Daughter of Ethel M. Johnson and the late David Carey. Bonus daughter of the late Clarence Johnson. Sister of David Carey, Marvin Carey, Joyce Butler, Jannie Veal, Schwann Runnels, Rena Lewis and the late Larry Jarrow, Anthony Jarrow, Perry Gatlin, Shirley Gatlin, and Carolyn Moran. Godmother of Josette Chancellor, Trina Russell, and Darolyn Russell. Cousin of Ronda Smith, Valeria Jackson, and the late Sheila Ray, and Elaine Jackson. Cherished friend of Lisa Carter. Brandon Louis her “Jelly Bean” whom she referred to as her son, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. at the above named parlor. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
