Steve Williams, age 36, Dean of Students at Edna Karr High School, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Ochsner Medical Center Main Campus. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Steve was a graduate of Heritage Academy High School and Oakwood University. He later earned his master’s degree from Walden University. Steve was a faithful member of Westbank United Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where he participated as an Adventurer and Pathfinder. He was also an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and Sons of a Saint Organization. With a desire to serve, Steve volunteered in community services, with the Red Cross and the Boys and Girls Club. Beloved son of George T. and Irene H. Williams, Rosalie Williams, and the late Steve Turner. Grandson of Ernest Turner and Delarene Hughes, and the late Willie Hughes, Jr. Loving brother of Ferris Martin (Ebony) Williams, Damion (Tova) Williams, Gia Patrice Williams, Kendrick Williams, Sr., Otis Williams, Kiyona Williams, Sierra Williams, and Steve Turner. Nephew of Willie (Joan) Hughes, III, Sharon Hughes (Bill) Wilford, Darold (Pauline) Hughes, Sr., Pastor Sherman (Winnifred) Hughes, Sr., Alvester (Wanda) Hughes, Kevin (Fredrica) Hughes, Lynette Connley, Errol (Mandisa) Hughes, Sr., Anthony (Iris) Turner, Geraldine Turner Carmouche, Zelda Turner, Michelle Johnson, Ernest (Iris) Turner, III, Richard (Monica) Hall, Christine Collins (Shelby) Hypolite, PhD., Carolyn Johnson Stokes, Jacqueline Williams, Monica Williams, Troy (Stacy) Allen, Pauline Clarke, and Carla Williams. Great nephew of Geraldine Turner Warren. Godson of Christopher John, Carmen Javery, and David Johnson. Godfather of Layla Olivia Pearl Lee. Godbrother of Reginald Collins, Derrick Wiltz, and Dawn Jones Matthews. Steve is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. The family would like express special acknowledgements to Mayor LaToya Cantrell, and the Hughes, Epps, Calderones, Edwards, T. Allen, Brashers, Swayne, Williams, Francois, McWeen, Reese, Wiltz, M. Anderson, Wilson, and Justin families. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Westbank United Seventh-Day Adventist Church and all neighboring churches; Oakwood University Family; faculty, staff and students of Edna Karr, Paul Habans, Joseph S. Clark, McMain, and Discovery Schools are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Westbank United Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2401 General Meyer Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Paul Lawrence and Dr. Leslie Pollard, officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:00a.m.-9:45a.m. ONLY at the church. Interment: Mt.
