Sterling Harris, age 79, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 8, 2022. He was a native of Wallace, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA. Sterling was a veteran of the United States Army. He was formerly employed as a forklift operator with Avondale Shipyard, a ship fitter with Hunt Shipyard, construction worker, and crane operator/captains’ mate offshore. Devoted husband of 45 years to Josie Harris. Loving father of Leslie Gerard. Son of the late Charles Harris, Sr., and Leanna Favorite Comminie. Grandfather of Kelly, Wilbert, Bryan, Sierra, and Asia. Brother of Myrtis Young, Brenda (Shelton) Valentine, and Joseph (Pam) Comminie.  Brother-in-law of Doretha Harris, Alice (Freddie) Carter, Mildred (Jay) Everette, Gwendolyn (George) Brooks, Charlie (Gloria)Ward, Jr., and Kent Sanders. Sterling is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m until service time.
