STANLEY HARRIS, SR.

Stanley Harris, Sr. departed this life on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the age of 72. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Stanley was a graduate of L.B. Landry High School, and he attended Southern University at New Orleans on a track scholarship. Deacon Harris was a devoted man of God as he served many capacities at the Greater St. Mary Baptist Church, as a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, feed the hungry and the marriage ministries. Loving husband of Joycelyn Payton Harris. Devoted father of Stanley Jr., (Yolander) and Terrance (Kiesha) Harris, and the late Corey D. Harris. Grandfather of Casey (Terrance) Louis, Keterra, Corey, Te’a, Chloe, Canaan and Kiley Harris, and the late Terraneka S. Harris. Great-grandfather of Caydence, Terrance, Jr., Camryn, Carsyn and Tres Louis. Son of the late Mildred S. Scott and Hillary James. Brother of Theresa Thompson, Linda Haywood, Frank Sylvester, Jr. (Cherly), Kevin Sylvester, Yolanda Hardy, Peggy (Armand) Ferrouillet, Iran (Cynthia) James, Gary (Gay-Monica) James, Dena Watson, Bruce (Michelle) James, Tory (Rebecca) James and Mario Miller, and the late Hillary and Rhonda James.  Nephew of Myrtle Conerly, Alma Harris, Elliott James, Junius Moran, and Edward Conerly. Brother in law of Bernard Kimble, Charles Williams, Cary Payton, Sr., Edward Dorsey, Claudette Payton, Alzena Dorsey, Denise Payton and Janice Kimble. Godfather of Jarrod Paulin, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater St. Mary Baptist Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, 1738 L. B. Landry Ave., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Norman Francis, host pastor; Rev. Curtis Carroll, officiating.
