SHIRLEY WILLIAMS GRANT

Shirley Grant departed this life on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the age of 74. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Shirley was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1968, and she continued her studies at Delagado Community College in nursing.  She loved cooking, drawing, poem writing, gardening, and nurturing her grandchildren. Beloved wife of 55 years to Joseph Grant, Sr. Loving mother of JoAnn Grant VanCourt, and Joseph (Yeshica) Grant, III, and the late Joseph Grant, Jr.  Devoted grandmother of Darien (Kristen) VanCourt, Jr., Dominique VanCourt, Kaela VanCourt, Joseph Grant, IV, Jilian Grant, and Jared Grant. Great grandmother of Darien VanCourt, III, Grayson VanCourt, and Sage VanCourt. Daughter of the late Percy C. Williams, Sr.  and Gladys Boudreaux-Smith. Sister of Mary Williams Sparks, Cynthia Cavalier-Shepard, Marlyn Williams-Brown, Ernest Williams, Louis Harris, Tommie Lee Harris, and the late Percy C. Williams, Jr., Anthony Harris, Joanne Williams, and Belinda Newton-Jackson. Devoted friend of Patricia Kennedy, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 10867 River Rd. Ama, LA on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:00p.m., Pastor Sha’Teek A. Nobles, Sr. officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
