SALLIE PAULINE BURRAS

Sallie Pauline Burras entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Sallie was a graduate of Katie’s Beauty College, and was employed as a licensed cosmetologist for many years. She was also a former employee of Belle Chasse State School. “Black”, as she was affectionately known by family and friends loved doing hair, spending time with her family, and shopping. Longtime companion of Ronald Ott. Loving mother of LaEisha Kanika Buras and Zanetra Cherelle Burras. Adored grandmother of Cornell Harris, Jr., Akyrah LaFrance, and Cam’Ron Harris.  Daughter of the late Edward Andrew Burras, Sr. and Ruby Degree Burras Thompson Walker. Bonus daughter of Carol C. Burras. Granddaughter of the late Mary Anderson, Wilbert, Sr. and Vivian Degree, George Burras, Sr., and Sallie Burkes Burras. Sister of Katherine Burras of Houston, TX, Yolanda (Eddie) Jones, Inez (Tim) Long of Houston, TX, Joanette (Brian) Rickson, Demetrial (Harold) Jones, Edward Burras, Jr. of NY, Shawn (Tonia) Burras, Brian Keith (San) Burras, Shani Kanika Burras, Andrew (Melissa) Burras (her godchild), Kiva, Marlan, and Sirk Burras, Willi (Wallace) and Santana (Rene’) Thompson, and the late Jarvis Burrell and Leara Burras. Niece/Sister of William (Irene) Burras. Cousin/Sister of Toni Burras-Boyer. Goddaughter of the late Geraldine B. Gooseberry and Phil Buras, Sr.  Sallie is also survived by her close friends Barbara Henry, Gilda Williams, Carol Campbell, Anita Southall, Janice Gasper, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church, 817 Grefer Avenue Harvey, LA on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
