Rose Carter Coleman

March 1, 1943 — October 18, 2020

Rose Carter Coleman entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at the age of 77. She was a native of Napoleonville, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Rose retired from the Jefferson Parish School Board after 26 years of service. Beloved wife of 30 year to Bernard Coleman, Sr. Loving mother of James Carter, Jr. and the late Mona Lisa Carter. Adopted mother of Ranell Jones. Stepmother of Anthony Coleman, Bernard Coleman, Jr., Ronald Coleman, and the late Deborah Roussell and Cheryl Lynn Lumbard. Devoted grandmother of Monique and Myrolynn Carter, whom she reared as her own, Eric, Erica and James Henderson, Chris Rankins and Kenterrell Williams. Daughter of the late Thomas, Sr. and Florence Jacobs Rainey. Sister of Alice Rainey, Mary Rainey, Debra Rainey, Diane Rainey, Roland Rainey, Sr., Robert (Elouise) Rainey, Sr., and the late Shirley, Thelma, Armertine, Geraldine, Raymond, Sr, Thomas, Jr., Joseph, Sr., and Harry Lloyd Rainey, Sr. and Deborah Lee Roussell. Godmother of Dennis Roussell, Donald Jacobs, Claudell White, Sr., Ranell Jones, Keyantae Daigle, Evelyn Robinson, and Marlene Benjamin. Sister-in-law of Leotha Rainey, Beatrice Rainey, Doretha Rainey, Barbara Butler, Augustine Rainey, Neva Lewis, Agnes Coleman, and the late Dianne Rainey. She was preceded in death by 4 great nephews. Rose is also survived by 14 step grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Beulah Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Gretna, Regular Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Beulah Baptist Church, 5453 Highway 1 Napoleonville, LA on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.  Interment: Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery-Napoleonville, LA  Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA   To view and sign the guestbook, please go to www.davismortuaryservice.com
