RODNEY EUGENE BURNS

Rodney Eugene Burns departed this life at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 59. He was a native of New Orleans, and a resident of Marrero, LA. Rodney was educated in the Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish School System. “Lil Shorty”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends enjoyed cooking, dancing, word puzzles, madden football just to name a few. Rodney was gifted at drawing, and he could draw anything.  Beloved son of Elvira “Jewel” Edwards Byrd of Ponchatoula, LA and the late Stephen Burns. Brother of Stephanie (Joe) Bridges of N.O., LA, Angela Burns, Alana Burns both of Marrero, LA, Antoinette Devezin of Riverdale, GA, Sonya (Dennis) Revels of Rosewell, GA, Kevin (Constance) Burns of Houston, TX, Stephens Burns of Marrero, LA, and the late Darnell Burns. Uncle of the late Mikhail Burns and Mickell Pete. Nephew of Alvin (Charlotte) Edwards of Harvey, LA, Robert Burns, Jr., James Earl (Edna) Burns, and Bobbi McGee all of Jackson, MS, Harvey Lee Burns, and Mildred Allen both of Detroit, MI, and  Mertharee Burns of Marrero, LA, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
