ROBERT BATILE JONES, JR.

Robert Batile Jones, Jr. entered peacefully into eternal rest at JoEllen Smith Living Center on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 93. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Robert served in the US Army from June 1947-December 1948 as a Private First Class. He was a retired Stevedore from Cooper T. Smith & Sons, and member of the Prince of Wales Social & Pleasure Club. Beloved husband of the late Emma J. Clanton Jones, by first marriage and Omega B. Jones by second marriage. Loving father of Robert III (Desareese), Byron (Cynthia), Rodrick (Sharon), Kersandra (Wayne), Leslie (Sarah), Lucius, Shantell, and James Johnson, Omega, Miranda (Corey), and Armanda. Son of the late Robert B. Jones, Sr., and Laura M. Holston Jones. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 7 sisters. Robert is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of Arkansas, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen St. Marrero, LA on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon officiating. Viewing will be held from 8:00a.m-10:00a.m. Only at the church. Interment: Restlawn Memorial Park & Mausoleum-Avondale, LA.
