RHETTA ROBEY JACOB

Rhetta R. Jacob, age 93, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was a native of Drew, MS and a resident of New Orleans, LA. “Madea”, as she was affectionately known to many, was raised in Jayess, MS where she attended Hope Elementary /High School, where she graduated with the highest honor bestowed on any graduating senior, valedictorian. She was also a proud graduate of Jackson State University, obtaining a degree in Elementary Education. She was employed for over 30 years in the public school systems in McComb, MS and Orleans Parish. After retirement she dedicated herself to provide love and care for her grandchildren. Rhetta was a faithful charter member of New Life Church of Christ Holiness USA. She was the Mother of the Church, a Deaconess, and a member of United Christian Woman’s Ministry, Sunday School, and the first Trustee Chairperson of the church. She also served in many leadership positions on the local, district and diocese levels of the Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A. She will be remembered for how she dressed up for Sunday service adorned in a hat that matched her seasonal outfits. Beloved wife of the late W. D. Jacob. Devoted mother of Sharon (Alvin) Partman of Franklinton, LA, Angela (Richard) Pierre, and Yolanda (Byron) Clark of Edmond, OK. Loving grandmother of Jarrett Partman, Garrett Partman of Los Angeles, CA, Alvin (Shacoby) Partman, Jr., Shelby (Chris) Houston of Monroe, LA, Aaron (Semonne) Pierre, Sr., Rashad Pierre, Austin Pierre, Bradley Clark, and Benjamin Clark both of Edmond, OK. Cherished great grandmother of Alvin III, Alani, Skye, Jaxon, and Giovanni Partman, Aaron J. Pierre, Jr. and Emerie Houston. Daughter of the late Dudley and Novirda Robey. Sister of Pearlie Robey Johnson of Dallas, TX, Theodore (Leola) Robey of Gulfport, MS, and the late Cephus (Arybzina), Rufus (Rosalie), and Aaron Curtis “AC” Robey, Elois (Willliam) Sullivan, Lorea (Otto) May, and Mildred (Cleo) Ratcliff. Daughter-on-law of the late Dolphus and Myra Jacob. Sister-in-law of Carrie Robey of Atlanta, GA and the late Earl Johnson, Sr., Kadious, Arcell, and Otis Jacob, Laurie Collins and Betty Jacob. Godmother of Ashaki (Archie) Brown, and Daniel (Mishun) Kennebrew of Houston, TX; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Life Church of Christ Holiness USA of New Orleans, Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness USA, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Sweet Home Church of Christ Holiness USA, 2200 Greenlaw Avenue, Franklinton, LA on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery-Kokomo, MS. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna, LA.
