REV. BURNELL WHITNEY DARENSBURG, III

Rev. Burnell “Mannie”  Whitney Darensburg, III entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 57. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA.  Burnell  was a graduate of L. B. Landry Sr. High School, and attended Prairie View A and M University, and a 2019 graduate of The Dr. Rufus Bonds School of Ordination under the 1^St District Missionary Baptist Association.  Rev. Darensburg was an associate pastor at Ephesian Baptist Church.Burnell was a retired chef and the owner of Darensburg’s Catering and Kitchen and the Garden Club now Ceasar’s  Nighclub. Devoted husband of Leslie  H. Starks Darensburg. Beloved father of Whitney T. Darensburg, Burnell W. Darensburg, IV , Damone C. and Briahne T. Wilson, Sr., and Domonique Mercedal. Son of the late Ethel Ricard and Burnell Darensburg, Jr. Grandson of the late Burnell  “Pete” W. Darensburg, Sr. Virginia Mitchell, Frances and Edward Ricard, Sr. Brother of Troy, Sr., Tyrone, Percy, Tannard, Sr.,  Jarvis, and Mark Darensburg, Aaron Ricard, Gaynell Adams Ranell Jones, and Veronica Jean, and the late Eric Ricard, also survived by 7 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service at Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the parlor.
