RAYMOND JUNIOUS MANSON

Raymond Junious Manson departed this life at his residence surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the age of 88. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA.  Raymond attended L. B. Landry High School and was employed for over 55 years as a chemical mixer operator with Allied / General Chemical Corporation, prior to retiring. He was faithful member of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, where he was an usher and past member of the trustee board. As a proud member of Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club for over 45 years, Raymond received several honors and recognition, including Zulu Hall of Famer and as an Honorary Lifetime Member. Throughout his years as a Zulu member, he served on various committees, Chairman, Raffle, Entertainment, and Picnic, to just name a few. For many years he took great pleasure leading the Krewe of Akosomeb as its float captain. Beloved husband of the late Idelma C. Manson. Devoted father of Roxanna (Perry) Felts of Kansas City, MO, Rachelle Fleming, Wanda (Darrel) Johnson, Raymond “Bamzy” (Kendra) Manson, Jacqueline Salazar, Julie Darensburg, Raymond Receser, Corey Manson, and the late Kedrick Manson. Grandfather of Kendra, Schnell, Donchelle, Shawda’, Shyniece, Tierra, Lechelle, Shannon, Ronulia, Jonathan, Alicia, Andreina, Daniel, Taylor, Carlee, Corey, Jr., Torien, Torel, and Bourgress. Son of the late Washington and Mamie Manson. Brother of late Cleotha Gaines, Savannah Boutee, Isabell Hudson, Viola Johnson, Clifford and Berland Manson. Uncle of the late Rita Patterson, Gail Bornum, and Freddie McKnight, Sr. Brother-in-law of Marva Coleman, Mary Alice (Alvie) Jackson, Emma Chess, Barbara Williams, Deon McGill, and the late Audrey C. Carey, and Janice C. Brown, also survived by 24 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Beautiful Zion Baptist Church, St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches; member of Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church 1738 L. B. Landry Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor James R. Williams officiating; Pastor Norman Francis Host Pastor.  Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: McDonoghville Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
