RAYMOND JOSEPH GILSON

August 12, 1939 — March 9, 2022

Raymond Joseph Gilson entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Lillie Hogan Gilson for nearly 60 years. Devoted father of Claudine Gilson Sinegal (Mark) of Carrollton, TX and Carla Rene Gilson of Atlanta, GA. Grandfather of Morgan Rae and William Reed Sinegal of Carrollton, TX. Son of the late Albert E. Gilson and Gertrude Range Gilson.  Grandson of the late Albert Gilson, Mary Gilson, and Victoria Range. Brother of Rena Ventris (Gail), Kenneth Gilson, Patricia Thomas, Brenda Marshall (Weldon), Carolyn Williams (Jimmy), Karen Pierre, and the late Lawrence A. Gilson, Sr., Albert H. Gilson, Earl Gilson, Iris Henderson, and Joyce Gilson. Brother-in-law of Mildred L. Gilson and Jacqueline Hogan, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives.  Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers and members of First Free Mission B.C., Shiloh Baptist Church, St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Friendship Baptist Church of The Colony, TX, Greater Pearlie Grove Baptist Church of Jackson, MS, Beacon Light of Baton Rouge and surrounding churches; employees of NMAC, Georgia Tech Athletics, and Roche Diagnostic; members of Alpha Kappa Alpha - Rho Pi Omega Chapter are invited to attend the funeral services at the First Free Mission Baptist Church 426 Lamarque St. New Orleans, LA (Algiers)  on Saturday, May 19, 2022 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Derrick Edmond, Pastor.  Visitation from 8:30a.m. until service time at the above-named church.  Interment: Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The officers and members of Pride of Algiers Lodge No 102 P. H. A. are requested to assemble at the First Free Mission Baptist Church 426 Lamarque St. New Orleans, LA 70114, Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 9:00a.m. to pay our last respects to our deceased Brother PM Raymond J. Gilson.
