ORA J. MCGEE

Ora Lee James McGee entered peacefully into eternal rest at Audubon Retirement Village on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the age of 94. She was a native of Bolivar, LA, a former resident of New Orleans, LA for over 70 years, and currently residing in Kenner, LA. Ora was educated in the Tangipahoa Parish School System, and a retired employee of Louisiana State Office of Vital Records. She was a former employee of New Orleans Charity Hospital. After retiring Ora worked for New Orleans Council on Aging until 2005. She was an active member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, where she participated with the Senior Solider Ministry. Each Sunday she loved wearing a hat from her large collection to complement her Sunday suit. Beloved mother of Patricia McGee Richardson, Kelvin Anthony (Dorene) McGee of Spring, TX, and the late Linda J. McGee Spearman of CA, and Eddie Lawrence MaGee.  Loving grandmother of Gordie (Heather) Sudds of CA., Dwayne A. Richardson of GA, Juana L. Richardson Lizzette M. (Tim) Clark of CA, Bjana D. (Taj) Adams of TX, and Brittny D. McGee of TX. Daughter of the late Eddie and Estine Griffin James. Sister of Raymond Harris and the late Eddie D. James both of CA.  Also cherishing her memories are 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and member of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 I-10 Service Road, New Orleans, LA on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Fred Luter, Sr., Senior Pastor.
