Nathaniel Riley, Sr. departed his earthly home at West Jefferson Medical Center on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age of 75. He was a native of Townsend, GA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Nathaniel graduate from Memphis State University with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education. He was formerly employed as an educator with Orleans and Jefferson Parish School Systems. In 2011 he graduated from Christian Bible of Louisiana. Nathaniel was a retired Furniture Salesman. He served his county as a member of the Army Reserves for 6 years. Nathaniel was an active member of St. Mary Baptist Church of Marrero, where he served as a deacon and with several other ministries. Beloved husband of over 49 years to Mae Ruth Small Riley. Devoted father of Karen Riley, Nathaniel (Auhora) Riley, Jr., and Kimberly (Morris) Vance. Loving grandfather of Morris Vance, Jr. and Jewel Mae Vance. Son of the late George Riley and Martha Deverger-Riley. Brother of Ronald (Sandra) Riley, Eva Riley, and the late Rosalee Brown, Elvina Kendrick, and George Ward. Nephew of Gertrude Deverger and the late Arthur (Buddy) Deverger, Victor Deverger, Sr., Viola Stillman, and Roberta Quarterman. Cousin of the late Victor Deverger, Jr.  Brother-in-law of Vivian Ward; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mary Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph, III, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time.
