MELVIN LEON JOHNSON

Melvin Leon Johnson entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 62. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Gretna, LA. Melvin attended Walter L. Cohen High School and was a former employee with Children’s Hospital (LCMC) as a floor finisher. Beloved husband of Dianne Johnson. Loving father of Keione J. Bastian and Teronika Johnson. Son of the late Isaiah Armant and Josie Ree Johnson. Grandson of the late Rachel Williams. Brother of Michael Johnson, Dianh Sam, and Elizabeth Johnson. Brother in law of Charles Johnson, Donald Sam, Jr., Janice Lewis Whitten, and the late Joseph “Joe” Whitten, Martha Ann Lee, and Ivory Luckett, also survived by 3 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Fifth African Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Fifth African Baptist Church 3419 S. Robertson St. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. at the above named church. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery-Metairie, LA.
