MELANIE JACKSON

Melanie Jackson entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the age of 61. Born in New Orleans on Thursday, September 5, 1962, Melanie was a lifelong resident of Algiers, La. and has spent the last 15 years in Belle Chasse, La.. She attended O Perry Walker High School in Algiers, La. and was Baptized at Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memories son, Jamal Jackson, her three beautiful grandchildren, Damian Tyree Ragas, Kayden Jamal Williams and Journi London Jackson; brothers, Dwayne Jackson, Terrell Johnson, Leonard Johnson and Tyron Jackson. She is also survived by a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Johnson, Jr., her mother, Carrie Mae Jackson; her sisters, Angela Johnson and Betty Jean Coley and her brothers, Eddie Johnson III and Brian Jackson. Melanie was loved by so many and spent a great deal of her time helping those around her. Although she worked as a Housekeeper for Riverbend Nursing Facility for quite some time, it was her passion for cleanliness and cooking that separated her from so many. There was nothing she wouldn’t do in order to help those around her. While she exhibited many talents, it was her love of family that characterized her the most. It was never hard to find Melanie; whether enjoying herself with cousins, aunts/uncles or friends, you’d find her spending time at her home while caring for her lawn. Her grandchildren was where her true heart lied. As the boys grew older, she was overjoyed, yet again, to welcome her first granddaughter. Everyone could see how much she enjoyed her time with each of them. The Family would like to thank the entire family for the loving care and compassion they’ve provided throughout Melanie’s time with us.
