Maxine Neal Stokes entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 25, 2021, at the age of 74. She was a native of Hazelhurst, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. Maxine was a retired school bus driver with Jefferson Parish School Board and Archdiocese of New Orleans. Beloved wife of the late David Stokes, Jr. Devoted mother of Tammy D. Stokes (Nathan) and the late David Stokes, Jr. Grandmother of Jordan Arceneaux and Jayden Coleman. Daughter of the late Leotha Neal, A.G. and Willie Mae Watts Stewart. Sister of Edward, James, Philip (Pam), and John Neal, Andrew, Raff, Gevely, Kenneth, Joyce, Betty, Helen, and Ernestine Stewart, and Patricia (Clarence) Johnson, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of New Zion Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Zion Baptist Church 1131 Garden Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Austin Dennis officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
