Mary J. Jones entered peacefully into eternal rest at her residence on Monday, September 18, 2023, at the age of 82. She was a native of Vacherie, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. With a desire to complete her high school education, Mary returned to school in 1978 and graduated at the age of 38. She retired from Jefferson Parish Head Start after many years of employment as a Cafeteria Coordinator/Manager. She was a faithful and active parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic church, where she participated with the Church Hospitality Ministry and served as an Usher. Mary was also a member of Marrero Senior Citizens and Seasoned Seniors. Beloved wife of the late Linton Jones and George Washington. Devoted mother of Anthony (Warrine) Jones, Tammy Anderson, Anita (Robert) Goff, and Tyuneka (Leroy) Brown. Grandmother of the late LePaul and LaVell Washington. Daughter of the late Earl, Sr. and Mary Jackson. Loving sister of Earl Jr., Joseph, Leroy and Linda Jackson, and the late August Jackson, Paul Jackson, Rosa Lee J. Alexander, and Mary Ann J. Williams. Godmother of Anthony Williams, Leroy Jackson, Jr., and the late Valarie Hills Carter. Mother-in-law of the late Alex Anderson. Mary is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Father Sidney Speaks, celebrant. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m.; Rosary 8:45a.m.; Tribute to Follow.
