Martha “Mot” L. Raby, age 83, entered peacefully into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of St. Francisville, LA, a former resident of New Orleans, LA and presently resided in Harvey, LA. She was a 1961 graduate of Dawson High School. Martha was employed as a private duty caregiver for many years, showing compassion and devotion to all of her patients. She was also a former bus monitor with the Jefferson Parish Public School System. Martha was and active and faithful member of New Home Ministries for over 39 years. She served as president of the Missionary Ministry, where she exemplified the love of Christ in helping the poor and needy. She never complained or grew weary when it came to visiting and cooking for the sick and elderly, bringing communion, and praying for people any and everywhere. She was very dedicated to the call upon her life in the missionary field. After many years as a missionary leader, Sis. Raby became a Deaconess, and she fulfilled those responsibilities with the same passion as her other roles. Martha will be remembered for her giving heart, nurturing spirit, and loving attitude. Devoted mother of Gerard Raby, Michelle (Reynaldo, Sr.) Favorite, Malcolm Raby, and SheLinda McGinnis. Loving grandmother of Amber Elliott, Gerail Woodall, Gabriella Raby, Giovanna Raby, Javondra "Kizzy" Raby, Hakim Raby, Sr., Jarmal Raby, Sr., Reynaldo “Bo” Favorite, Jr., Rashad Favorite, Jurran Wyman, Ava Raby, Byron Matthews, Jr., Olden McGinnis, Jr., Brionne’ Aysia McGinnis, and Eamon McGinnis. Daughter of the late Albert and Elnora Raby. Beloved sister of Mary Veal, Eleanor LaGrue, Margaret “Tot” Scales (her twin), and the late Sirvia, Roosevelt, Roosevelt, and Joseph Raby, Adlina Williams, and Mary Louise Armand. Also cherishing her memories are her goddaughter Sonya Abotsi, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Home Ministries, First Hollygrove Baptist Church, St. Peter and St. Paul #2 Baptist Churches of St. Francisville, LA, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at New Home Ministries, 1616 Robert C. Blakes Sr. Dr., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Bishop Samuel Blakes, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
