Marie Brown Williams passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019, in New Orleans, LA at the age of 96. She was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Marie retired after 25 years with the New Orleans Public School System. At the age of 13, she accepted Christ and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Marie Brown Williams moved to New Orleans, LA in 1942 and became a member of First Emmanuel Baptist Church where she resided until death. Marie Brown Williams was Queen of Carrolton/Hollygrove Senior Center in 2005. She chose her beloved husband Arthur, to be her King. Devoted wife of the late Arthur Williams, Sr. Beloved mother of Irving L. (Beverly) Jordan of Fairburn, GA., Arthur (Sandra) Williams, Jr., of Lafayette, LA, Sandra (Ralph) Hudson, Cynthia (Bobby) Williams, Diane (Willie) Wescoe, of Hampton, GA, Brenda Clavo, and Wanda (Dennis, Jr.) Jones. Grandmother of the late Valencia Wescoe. Daughter of the late Isabell Jackson Chaney and Charlie Brown. Niece of Shirley Jackson. Godmother of Lawrence James, also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of First Emmanuel Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life for Marie B. Williams on Friday, February 15, 2019 at First Emmanuel Baptist Church 1829 Carondelet St. New Orleans, LA at 11:00a.m. Pastor Charles Joseph Southall, III, officiating Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. at the above named church.
