Luisa Saile-Cruz Nunez Veal, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native of Negritos Distrito La Brea, Peru, raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and a resident of Marrero, LA. Lusia migrated to the United States in 1955, unable to speak the English language, she took on the challenge with much courage, strength, tenacity, integrity, and dignity. No task was too great for the family matriarch who was the heart of the family. She set the bar high and will always be the benchmark for a high standard. Luisa was a sports enthusiast and could watch, talk and champion any sport with whomever enjoyed the games with her. She was an avid New Orleans Saints fan, who would weather any storm with them. Her legacy of love and wisdom will live on in her family and friends. Beloved wife of the late Howard Veal. Devoted mother of Vicente (Diane) Nunez, Sr., Maria Nunez, Elizabeth (Abdul) Kareem, Margarita Bell, and Nancy (Hollis) Smith. Loving grandmother of Chanda Nunez, Angelita Nunez, Shenna (Efrem) Scott, Brandi (Everett) Washington, Qiana Malveaux, Vicente “Pancho” Nunez II, Kia Malveaux, Rafael Bell, and Pe’lar Bell. Great grandmother of Taylor Dean, Jurnee Scott, Jacobi Hobson, Efrem Scott, Jr., Jaye Washington, Kacidy Washington, Summer Nunez, Carson Nunez, Leah Nunez, Worthy Malveaux, and Titus Dozier. Great great grandmother of Dylan Brooks. Daughter of the late Roberto and Faustina Saile. Sister of Marta Serrano, Margarita Rounds, and the late Luis and Francisco Saile. Former wife of the late Vicente Nunez. Mother -in-law of the late Gail Stemley and Michael Malveaux. Sister-in-law of the late Francisco Lambert. Also cherishing her memories are her lifelong friend Juanita Green, the Melendez family, 6 nieces, 3 nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Workers Catholic Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, LA on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Father Sidney Speaks III, celebrant.
