LOREN EDWARD JOHNSON

Loren “Polo” Edward Johnson was called home to be with the Lord at Ochsner Medical Center on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the age of 58. Loren was a native of Milwaukee, WI and a longtime resident of Westwego, LA. Loren was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, and he attended Delgado Community College. Loren joined the United States Army Reserve in 1984 and served as a combat engineer. He was also a clerk with the United States Army Corp of Engineers. As a self-employed mechanic and an entrepreneur, Loren owned and operated Polo Brakes on the Go and Polo Limousine Services. He was formerly employed as a tow truck driver with Coleman’s Wrecker and Towning Services, and as an 18-wheeler driver with Harry Connick, Sr. Loren will be remembered as a jack of all trades, who was great at everything he put his mind to. Devoted father of Lorian D. Benjamin, and Loren Edward Johnson, Jr. Stepfather of Jestinee Benjamin-Canales (Edgar Canales). Cherished grandfather of Kingston Murray and Isaiah Canales. Beloved son of Lucille Cavalier Johnson-Sawyer and the late David Johnson, Jr. Stepson of Morris Sawyer Jr. Grandson of the late Felthus and Elizabeth Cavalier, David Johnson Sr. and Charity Smith. Loving brother of Wanda Rhea (late Larry Rhea Sr.) of Fredericksburg, VA, Duane Johnson, Wayne Johnson (Yvette Morrison-Johnson), and the late Lyndon B. Johnson. Stepbrother of Derrick Sawyer and Marvette Sawyer-Howard of Spring, TX. Nephew of the late Arjery Smith, Oliver Thornton, and Geraldine Shanks. Loren is also survived by a host of caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St Gretna, LA on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. at the above named parlor.
