LEROY SMITH, SR.

Leroy Smith, Sr. entered eternal rest on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the age of 88. He was a native of Natchez, MS and a resident of Avondale, LA. Leroy was a graduate of Sade’ B. Thomas High School in Natchez, MS, and he continued his studies at Delgado Community College earning a degree in Engineering. He was a retired engineer and entrepreneur, who was formerly employed at Children’s and DePaul Hospitals, Hilton Hotel, and Gypsum Company. Beloved husband of Jessie Smith. Father of Zed Smith, Sr., Leroy Smith, Jr., JoAnn Garrett, Leroy J. Smith, Stephanie Anomneze, Leah Campbell, and the late Michael Smith. Stepfather of Doris Jones-Harper. Son of the late Luella Bridgewater. Brother of the late Willie Hall. Leroy is also survived by 1 brother, 2 sisters, 33 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Garden Rd., Avondale, LA on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the above-named church.
