LARRY COLEMAN

Larry Coleman entered eternal rest surrounded by family at West Jefferson Medical Center on Monday, November 18, 2024, at the age of 65. He was a native of Marrero, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. “Maltman”, as he was affectionately known, was a 1977 graduate of West Jefferson High School, and he continued his studies at Southern University of Baton Rouge. His love for music and playing the trumpet began in elementary school and continued into college. While at Southern he became a member of the marching band, “The Human Juke Box”, and earned the nickname “Larry Graham”. He performed with the band at the inauguration of President Reagan, Rose Bowl Parade, and at numerous Bayou Classics and Mardi Gras Parades. Larry was formerly employed with the Baton Rouge Police Department, Syngenta Chemical Plant, and Jefferson Parish General Service Department. He later owned a successful roofing business. Larry was also a founding member of John G. Lewis Jr. Masonic Lodge 261. Loving father of Larry (Kantralyn) Montgomery and Lance Coleman. Devoted grandfather of Larry, Jr., Kamryn, and LaShanna. Son of the late Samuel and Roberta Coleman. Grandson of the late Amelia Smith and Lula Cushenberry. Beloved brother of Elemuel (Elsie) Coleman, Melanie (Lecial) Carroll, Michael Coleman, Cheryl Payne, Khristine (Harrold) McGrew, Antonia Coleman, and Steven (Kimberly) Arceneaux, and the late Khris Coleman and Samuel “Poboy” Coleman, Sr. Larry is also survived by a host of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of John G. Lewis Jr. Masonic Lodge 261 are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Israel Baptist  Church, 1612 Ester Street, Harvey, LA on, Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Keith Paul Stewman, officiating; Pastor Darrell McKinnies, host pastor. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
