Larry Birden, Sr. departed this life at his residence on Friday, February 11, 2022, at the age of 76. He was a native of Avondale, LA and a resident of Waggaman, LA. Larry was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was employed as a Supervisor with Avondale Shipyard and Bollinger for over 30 years, until his health began to decline forcing him to retire. He will be remembered for his love of fishing, the Saints, and as a sharp dresser. Loving father of Korone Birden Debrow, Chakiara Birden, Larry Birden, Jr., Rochondra Harris and the late Barry Birden. Son of the late Mildred Narcisse and Anaise Birden II. Grandson of the late Rev. Ananias Birden, Sr., and Albertha Hogan Birden. Brother of Calvin Love, Michael Love, Donald Kennedy, Carlton Kennedy, Ananias Kennedy III, Yolanda Kennedy, Gail Love, Judy Ann Kennedy, Paulette Love, Lisa Love, Barbara Jean Kennedy, and the late Stanley, Alton and Brenda Love, Rosemarie, and Jernell Kennedy. Former husband of Daisey Wilson and Marlene Davis. Dear friend of Sheila Andrews; also survived by 15 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street Gretna, LA on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time.
