JULIA MAE DOBBINS

Julia Mae Dobbins, age 80, passed away peacefully at Wynhoven Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a native of Natchez, MS and a resident of Westwego, LA. Julia was a graduate of Sadie B. Thomas High School and Natchez Community College. She retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office after 15 years of dedicated service as a Correctional Officer. Julia was a faithful member of Historic True Vine Baptist Church, where she served with the Deaconess Ministry. She was also a member of the Fraternal Lodge of Police #12 and a former member of the Unified Women’s Ministry of Westside Missionary Baptist Association. Beloved wife of 59 years to Charles L. Dobbins, Sr. Devoted mother of Charles L. Dobbins, Jr., Gregory J. Dobbins, and Katrina R. Dobbins. Loving grandmother of Defarrion Dobbins, Charles l. Dobbins, III, Cameron Dobbins, Bryanca Coleman Whitfield, Jarrell Burrle, Ariel Dobbins, and Briell Dobbins. Great grandmother of Rylen, Kaylee, and Aubrey Dobbins. Daughter of the late William Barland and Bernice Conner; stepdaughter of the late John Conner, Sr. Sister of Tyrone, Donald, Thomas, and Terry Conner, and the late John Conner, Jr., Clabe Edwards, Joseph Edwards, Oreva Glenn, Sherry Palmer, and Autrey L. Butler. Also cherishing her memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Historic True Vine Baptist Church of Westwego, Little Zion Baptist Church of Marrero and all neighboring churches; employees of Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Dept., Jefferson Parish Public School System, Jefferson Parish Recreation Dept., Louisiana State Police Protective Services, Louisiana State Office of Juvenile Justice; members of Fraternal Lodge of Police #12, Local ILA 3000, and Disable Veterans Auxiliary are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Historic True Vine Baptist Church, 249 Sala Avenue, Westwego, LA on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 7:00p.m. Pastor Leander Johnson, officiating. Visitation will begin at 6:00p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be held at Natchez National Cemetery, 41 Cemetery Rd., Natchez, MS on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 12:30p.m. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA.
