Josie Faye Mark Simpson departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the age of 81. She was a native of Tylertown, MS and a resident of Avondale, LA. Josie was the first black female fire fighter with W.K. B., and she was the first black female deputy clerk with Jefferson Parish Clerk of Court for 22 years. Beloved wife of the late Larry R. Simpson, Sr. Loving mother of Mark A. (Bernadette) Simpson, Gay S. Simpson, Estelle D. Simpson, Fujikol N. Simpson, and the late Kiyoshi L. Simpson. Bonus mother of Larry R. Simpson, Jr. and Karen Ann B. Collins. Daughter of the late Leslie Mark and Tressia Mae Mark. Sister of Antoinette Anders of N.Y., Murphy M. Thomas of Slidell, LA, Carol Ann (Ledell) Clark of Marrero, LA, and the late Leslie Mae H. Magee, Equilla Pittman, and Nancy V. Mark. Godmother of Terrell Ardon Shook, Terrace Johnson, and Rickie White. Cousin of Charles E. Fortenberry, also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, LA on Saturday March 16, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. at the above named church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
