JONATHAN LAMAR BROOKIN

Jonathan Lamar Brookin was called home on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the age of 32. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Jonathan was a graduate of Helen Cox High School, where he played football and played the tuba in the band. “Freaky”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, received his CDL license from Roadmaster Drivers School in 2015. He was employed as a truck driver with Landrieu Concrete & Cement LCCI. Jonathan main hobby was being a comedian, and he loved cars, dancing, and singing. Beloved father of Savannah Brookin, Skyy Brookin, Kyleigh Brookin, J’ream Brookin, Kennedi Alexander, Jonathan Brookin, Jr., and Shannon Smith. Son of Marzettet “Doc” Brookin and Karen Yarls Brookin. Grandson of the late Jocelyn Yarls, Maebelle Brookins, Tommie Lee, Sr., and Marzettet Brookin, Sr. Brother of Kala Brookin, Jana Brookin, Marzettet “Nicky” Brookin, and Thaddeus Brookin. Nephew of Patrice Yarls, Byron Yarls, Tommie Lee Yarls, Jr., and the late Mary Bolden, Michelle Yarls, Arthur Lee Brookins, Robert Lee Brookins, and Chester Lee Brookins. Great nephew of the late Anna Firstley, Estelle Oliver, Marjorie Lewis, Willie Cloud, Leroy Cloud, Leonard Cloud, Louis Cloud, and Bernard Cloud. Cousin of the late Janee’ Yarls. Jonathan is also survived by the mothers of his children Ashley Walker, Jasmine Fobb, and Jowanna Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
