Johnell Davis, age 71, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Passages Hospice. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Johnell was educated in Orleans Parish Public School System. He was a retired school custodian. He was a faithful deacon, superintendent of the Sunday School, and choir member at Greater Providence Baptist Church until his health began to decline; he was also a member of Westbank Male Chorus. Beloved husband of Jacquelyne R. Davis. Loving father of Milton Watts, Travis (Ericka) Robert, and the late Marvet E. Watts and Chelsey R. Davis. Son of the late Charles O. Davis and Shirley Johnson Davis. Grandson of the late Alberta Laurent, Arthur Lee and Sarah Johnson, and Juanita Davis. Devoted brother of Lawrence (Pearl) Davis, Oneal Davis Magaret (Cleveland) Mitchell, Gloria and Shirley Davis, and the late Charles Davis. Godfather of Charles Davis, Monischa Hills, Chad Smith, Antoine Lagarde, Charles Hills, Berwick Lagarde, and Georgia Davis. Nephew of Iona Gates, Elaine Walker, and the late Delores Jefferson, Josephine Jefferson, Gloria Norvell, Kristen Brown, August Johnson, Gloria Bercy, Pricella Bercy, and Edwina Alexander. Uncle of the late John and Vernon Davis. Son-in-law of the late Eleanor and Adam Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Robinson. Brother-in-law of Dianne Lagarde, Roslyn Robert, and the late Berwick Lagarde, Sr. and Barbara Davis. Also cherishing his memories are 3 grandchildren, 23 nieces, 14 nephews, 30 great nieces, 21 great nephews, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Providence Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; members of L. B. Landry Class of 1971 are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Greater Providence Baptist Church, 623 Newton Street, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Javonte W. Jimcoily, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
