JOHN OLIVER MITCHELL

John O. Mitchell entered into eternal life at his residence on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at the age of 79. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. John served his country in the United States Air Force, and he retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant after 26 years of service. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie J. Mitchell.  Devoted father of Candice Mitchell and the late Mia M. Williams. Adopted father of Tyra Luter Smith and Patrice Bellaire. Grandfather of Michael Williams, Jr. Adopted grandfather of Tyler J. Bocage, Janae’ Lindsey, Robert “Bobby” Bocage, Phoenix and London Lindsey. Son of the late Clarence, Sr. and Helena Mitchell. Brother of Carol J. Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, and the late Clarence Mitchell, Jr. Brother in law of Erick Joseph, Martin Joseph, Theresa P. Hamilton, Darrell Joseph, John Kenneth Joseph, Katherine Mitchell, and the late Vernell Joseph, Rita Cadres, and Leona S. Graves, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
