JOEL GAINES

Joel Gaines, a retired Construction Worker, departed this life at Marreo Healthcare on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the age of 88. He was a native of Choctaw County, AL and a resident of Westwego, LA. Beloved husband of Marylee Thomas Gaines. Devoted father Phyllis Y. Gaines, Pamela G. (James) Brown, Paula M. (Dionell) Johnson, and the late Marvin L. Gaines. Son of the late Oscar Gaines and Annie Lee Hankerson. Loving brother of Frank Gains, Catherine (Andrew) Sykes, Anne Hankerson Murray, Jeanette Mack, Easter, and the late Jimmie, Willie Morris, and Webster Hankerson, Winston Gaines, and Shelia Westley. Joel is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, LA on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
