JOE LAMAR BURNETT, SR.

Joe Lamar Burnett, Sr. departed this life on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the age of 81. He was a native of Hazelhurst, MS and a resident of Kenner, LA. Joe graduated from Parish High School in 1962, and he attended Utica Jr. College. He retired from Jefferson Parish Recreation Dept. Beloved husband of Sarah Burnett. Father of Joe (Blessing) Burnett, Jr., Charlene Tanner, and Hazel Coleman both of Hazlehurst, MS, and the late Lorenzo Burnett, Sr.  Son of the late George and Eula Burnett. Stepson of the late Charlie Coleman. Brother of the late Maybelle Coleman, Charles Tanner, and James Coleman.  Godfather of Clint Walker. Father in law of Christiana Burnett. Brother in law of Mae Cornish, and Harrison Cornish of Kenner, LA, also survived by  13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Bethlehem and Zion Travelers First Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Home Going Service at Greater Bethlehem and Zion Travelers First Baptist Church 406 Adams St. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00am. Pastor Irvin Scales, Sr. officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until the service time. Interment: Will Be Private. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St., Gretna, LA.
