Jessie Mae Williams entered peacefully into eternal rest at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the age of 96. She was a native of Batchelor, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. Jessie was the oldest member and longest tenured member of 88 years at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. She was also the mother of the church and president emeritus of the Deaconess Ministry. Jessie retired from the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals as an Eligibility Worker. Loving mother of Curtis (Paula) Williams, Sr., Glenn (Michelle) Williams, Sr., Cynthia (Roberto) Turner, Darryl Williams, Kenneth (Debra) Williams, Sr., and the late Elliot H. Williams. Grandmother of the late Glenn Williams. Daughter of the late George Williams, Sr., and Josephine Sylvest Williams. Granddaughter of the late Rosa James. Sister of John (Gloria) Williams, and the late Oneida Ballet, James Williams, George Williams, Jr., and Gladys Jones. Aunt of the late Barbara M. Ballet, Josephine G. Ballet, June M. Ballet-Parker, George Ballet, Warren Ballet, Quannie “Billy” Jones, and Herbert Alfred. Jessie is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1509 Monroe St., Gretna, LA on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Orin D. Grant, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m until service time. Interment: McDonoghville Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
