JANNIE MAE STOKES MATTHEWS

Jannie Mae Stokes Matthews entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 63. She was a native Waterproof, LA and a resident of Algiers, LA. Jannie was a graduate of Alcee Fortier High School, and she was a former employee with McDonald’s as a cashier. Beloved wife of Kevin Matthews. Loving mother of Delaware (Alyshia), Elizabeth, Lewis, Lester, and Clinton Stokes. Daughter of the late Jim Brooks and Eveline Stokes. Granddaughter of the late Mack and Josephine Stokes. Sister of Diane Stokes Muse, and the late Melanie, and Lester Stokes. Aunt of the late Alexander Stokes. Sister in law of the late Errol Muse, also survived by 12 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, LA on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. at the above-named parlor.
