JANIE SHANNON YOUNG

Janie Ruth Shannon Young entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 69. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Janie was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School. Janie was a retired case manager with The First Evangelist Housing Dev Corp. Beloved mother of Rodney and Griselda Young, and the late Kenneth Young, Sr. Grandmother of Mason Teachey, and the late Kenneth Young, Jr. Daughter of the late Arthur and Otelia Shannon. Sister of Patsy Shannon, Patricia S. Beoh, Macarthur and Ronald Shannon, and the late Alfred Shannon. Aunt of the late Alfred Simon and Clifford Shannon, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers, and members of at First Evangelist Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at First Evangelist Baptist Church 1801 Willow St. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the above-named church.
