JAMES EDWARD MCGLOTHEN

James Edward “Slugga” McGlothen departed this life Pearland Medical Center on Monday, August 24, 2020 at the age of 68. He was a native of Westwego, LA and a resident of Houston, TX.  Slugga, as he was known to family and friends, was a veteran of the United States Navy. He resided in San Diego CA for several years following his honorable discharge from the military. James retired from VA Medical Center of Houston, TX and was employed for 15 years at Mason Pawn Shop. Loving father of Derrick Bernard, Virgil McGeorge, Tanisha Davis-Scribner, Thyneshia Harris., and the late Henry Hall and Pearl Smith. Beloved son of Eloise McGlothen-Lampkin. Brother of Ethel Mae Wings, Delores Wings, Diane Lampkin, Ronnie McGlothen-Brown, Lauren McGlothen-Williams, Jacquelyn Lampkin, Ezekiel Wings, Lee Wings, and the late Ruthie Mae Osborne, Jimmy Lampkin, Gary McGlothen, Darrion Wings, and Melvin Wings. James is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Greater Zionfield Family Worship Center and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Greater Zionfield Worship Center, 636 11^th Street Westwego, LA on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 10:00a.m. Elder Samuel Travis, Jr., officiating  Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
