JAMES OLIVER DAVIS

James Oliver Davis entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 77.  He was a native of Utica, MS, longtime resident of Harvey, LA, and presently residing in Jefferson, LA.  James served his country in the United States Army. “Buddy,” as he was a affectionately called by family and friends, was a retired electrician with Avondale and Bollinger Shipyards. Beloved husband of the late Myrna Poole Davis.  Former husband of Renetta McDuffie by first marriage.  Loving father of Daryl Mosley and Andrea (Alice Johnson) Collins. Stepfather to Carl Ovide, Monique Ovide, Wanda Ovide, Shelly (Steve) Cooper, Tremayne Collins and Shondell (Joyell) Collins.  Grandfather of Donavan Mosley, Maya Mosley, Monanika Collins, Derrick Collins, Trevis Collins, Tayanna Justice, Shondell Collins, Jr., and the late Trejon and Dijon Collins. Son of the late Willie Garner Davis and Emma Lee Torry Davis.  Brother of Melodis Divinity, Shirley Jean King, Clemistine Belton, Gerald Davis, Lennette Watts, Samuel Davis and the late Natalia Robinson, Reuben Davis, Sr., Stella Robinson, Elvia Wofford, Geraldine Davis, Willie P. Davis, Sr., and Ruthene Davis. Brother in law of Ada N. Davis, Shirley Davis and Diane Davis. He is also survived by his devoted niece Montrice Davis Preatto, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.  Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of life at Davis Mortuary Service 6820 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Samuel Travis, officiating.
