James Edward Coleman entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 88. He was a native of Pickens, MS, a resident lifelong resident of Pasadena, CA until 2020, and presently residing in Gretna, LA. James worked several different jobs for many years. “J.C. or the Godfather” as he was affectionately known by family and friends, had a passion for riding motorcycles with the Black Hawks club where he was the President. Beloved husband of 67 years to Jean Winfrey Coleman. Devoted father of Joan Coleman Johnson, Desiree Robbins, James Coleman, Jason Coleman, and the late Kathy Coleman. Grandfather of Kendra Hills (TroyneII) Rivers and Glenn Tate, II. Son of the late Georgia and Burell Coleman. Devoted brother of the late Cornelius Woodcox, Eloise Porche, Reed Coleman, and Ben Brooks. Brother in law of Donna Rainey, also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Special thanks to Regular Baptist Church, The Hospice Specialist of LA., FEMA, USPS, Brand Safway, Texas Outhouse, Idea Lake Houston Public School, Wal Mart, and his caretakers Allison Melacon and Jenora Webb.
