HENRIETTA AUGUSTINE LEWIS

Henrietta Augustine Lewis, a homemaker, entered into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the age of 78. She was a native and resident of New Orleans (Cutoff and Fischer Communities). Henrietta was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School. She was a former employee of Chauvin Potato Factory, Hong Kong Restaurant, and the Office of Family Support. Wife of Robert Lewis. Loving mother of Leonard Lewis (Jane Byrd), Roxann Lewis, and Trenice Lewis. Grandmother of the late Joseph Guss, Jr. and Le’Trenique Lewis. Daughter of the late Robert Augustine and Ellen Jackson. Granddaughter of the late Andrew and Lavinia Jackson. Beloved sister of Grace Jackson (Larry Williams), and the late Catherine Augustine, Jacqueline Jackson, Barbara McGinnis, Robert Augustine, Edward Lewis, Jr., Ernest Jackson, and Auguster Augustine. Niece of the late Sherman Jackson. Aunt of the late Bernell Lewis. Great great aunt of the late Mekhia Lewis. Great great great aunt of Mason Alexander Lewis. Devoted godmother of Jermaine Augustine and Louis Bush. Longtime companion of Willie “Hayes” Johnson. Sister-in law of Freddie Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Elizabeth Jackson, Valerie Taylor, Olivia Price, Delores Guice, and Lillian Black. Henrietta is also survived by her longtime friend Mindy Brumfield, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street Gretna, LA on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the parlor.
