GUS M. SEXTION

Gus M. Sextion, Jr. departed this life at St. Jude’s Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 91. He was a native of St. Joseph, LA and a resident of New Orleans, LA. “Buddy”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends was a retired longshoreman with the Port of New Orleans. Beloved husband of the late Bessie M. Sextion. Loving father of Irene Section-Green, Rickey (Shirley) Section, Gus Section, Thea Section (Arthur) Green, Andrew (Janet) Section and the late Glen Section, and Loretta Daniels-Wilson. Grandfather of the late Corey E. Harris, Sr. Great grandfather of the late Robert Segue, III and Jalen Daniels. Son of the late Gus and Rosetta Jordan Sextion. Brother of Wilbert (Mary) Sextion Cleora Hicks, Geneva Sextion, and Dorothy Robertson all of Chicago, IL, and the late Fred Sextion, Jesse Sextion, and Mose Sextion, Sr. Godfather of Kim Young. Gus is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1419 4th St. Westwego, LA on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Woodrow Hayden officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the church.
