GLORIA PAYNE JONES

Gloria Payne Jones departed this life at St. Joseph Hospice on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 72. She was a native and resident of Marrero, LA. Gloria was a graduate of L. W. Higgins High School. She was a retired Resident Specialist with the State of LA. Gloria was a member of Emmanuel Cooper Temple # 912, where she currently served as the assistant Daughter Ruler, and she was a dedicated Elk Member. Beloved wife of Sterling Jones, Jr. Mother of the late Willie Hughes, Jr. Daughter of the late Allen Payne, Sr. and Flavia Adams Payne. Granddaughter of the late Frank and Jane Payne, James and Emma Nixon Adams. Sister of Allen Payne, Jr., Melvin Payne, Sr., Kelvin Payne, Ernest Payne, Sr., Lois Payne Lott, and the late Dianne Payne. Aunt of the late Dwayne Lott, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of First New Testament Missionary and Educational Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at First New Testament Missionary and Educational Baptist Church 6112 Westbank Expressway Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
