GLADIOLA WARD BECKLES

Gladiola Ward Beckles passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the age of 85 years. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Devoted wife of the late Leon A. Beckles. Beloved mother of Adolph Pickett, Patricia (Floyd) Alexander, Cheryl (Lamar) Shaw, and Verita (Jon) Mitchell. Grandmother of Chantrell, Mark, Jerita, Jewanne, Jonah, and Brandon. Great grandmother of Ahmad, Alijah, Alani, Amaya, and Amir. Daughter of the late Robert and Juanita Ward. Sister of Eddie Ward, Carolyn Ward, Glynn Marie (Stanley) Joyner and the late Riley, Alvanita, Earl, Robert, Velma, Sandra, Joseph, Ronald, and Harold Ward. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mark Baptist Church and neighboring churches; L. B. Landry Class of 1955; employees of Heart of Hospice are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Mark Baptist Church 1929 Huey P. Long Ave. Gretna, LA. on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Rev. Joseph Hampton officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. at the above named church.
