EUGENE DAVIS

Eugene Davis affectionately known as “Red Davis” was called from labor to reward at Marrero Health Care Center on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the age of 89. He was a native of Carpenter, MS and resident of Harvey, LA. Eugene was employed at Otis Engineering (Haliburton), until he became disabled. He later became “the neighborhood taxi-cab driver”.  Beloved husband of the late Leotha Grandison Davis. Loving father of Juanita D. Smith (Terrell), Darlene McKinnies, Deborah Davis, and the late Sandra Davis. Devoted grandfather of Nina (Derek) Truitt, Mya (Nathan) Butler, Ashley Smith, Sean Smith, Alexia Thompson, Crystal (Marcus) Taylor, Ebony (Juan) Johnson, Victoria Thompson, and Raquel Davis.  Son of the late Andrew Davis and Ora Bell Curtis Davis Hubbard. Brother of the late Matthew and Mary Ann Davis. Uncle of Mattie Moore. Cousin of Carrie Tigler. Godfather of John Bradley, Eric Jefferson, and Milton Gaines, Jr. Brother-in-law of Eula Lobrie and Leola Williams. Eugene is also survived by his son in love Darrell McKinnies, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Israel Baptist Church, Mount Pilgrims Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Israel Baptist Church, 1612 Esther Street Harvey, LA on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Johnny McKinnies, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
