ERVIN SMITH

Ervin Smith, a retired mechanic, entered into eternal rest at JoEllen Smith Convalescent Center on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the age of 73. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Ervin was a graduate of Tongue Point Job Corp Center in Astoria Oregon, where he learned the trade to become a Chef. He was formerly employed as a Chef, Truck Driver, and as a Disc Jockey. Beloved companion of Rose Brisbon. Loving father of Carmen L. Smith-Hubbard, Chantell Smith, Shaun Scott, Jamal Scott, Ervin Red, Donieta Thomas, NaKeysha Cleaves, Keisha Brisbon and Isaac Brisbon.  Son of the late S. T. Smith and Nellie Jimmerson Johnson. Brother of Ophur “Doll” (Charlie) Johnson of Gulfport, MS, Myrtis Hendricks (Bobby) Brown of Gauthier, MS, Georgia Wright of Gautier, MS, Frank (Leslie) Smith of Oklahoma, Robert (Katherine) Johnson, Jr. of Gulfport, MS, and the late Willie Johnson, C. L. Johnson, and Ella “Matey” Mae Johnson. Also cherishing his memories are 11 grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe Street Gretna, LA on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the parlor.  Interment: Will Be Private.
