ERNEST WILLIAM ROY, SR.

 Ernest William Roy, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord at his residence on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the age of 89. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. Ernest was a graduate of L. B. Landry High School Class of 1954 and served his country in the U.S. Army. Ernest was a retired Logistics Operator with South Central Bell. Beloved husband of Virginia J. Roy for over 67 years. Devoted father of August Sr. (Gwen), Wendell (Noami), Eric, Sr. (Evelyn), Tyrone (Pamela), Jerome (Tametrish), and  Lawanda Roy, and the late Milfred and Ernest Roy, Jr. Grandfather father of the late Eric Roy, Jr.  Son of the late William L. Roy and Viola Rivers Roy.  Grandson of the late Octavino Roy and Georgiana Livingston Roy. Brother of Ruth (Alvin) Riggins, Paul (Gustavia), and Dan (Peggy) Roy, and the late Bernice Garrison, Francis Higgins, Leo Young, and James Roy. Father-in-law of Joey and Josephine Roy. Brother-in-law of and the late Selena Young, also survived by 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Fischer Community Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Fischer Community Church 1737 L. B. Landry Ave. Algiers, LA on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10:00a.m. Bishop James Nelson Brown officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
