EMMETT ADAM BARNES, JR.

Emmett Adam Barnes, Jr. entered into eternal rest at Ochsner Medical Center Westbank on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the age of 71. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Emmett was a graduate of West Jefferson High School. He served his country in the United States Army as an Armory Unit Supply Specialist for 12 years, receiving the Defense Medal of Honor. Unc, as he was affectionately known by family and friends was employed as a plumbing inspector, and he was also a skilled carpenter. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Barnes. Son of the late Emmett A. Barnes, Sr., and Willie Mae Davis Selico. Grandson of the late Eddie and Rosella Davis, and Louise Barnes. Loving brother of Kathryn Veal, Willie “Joe” Barnes, and the late Edward Barnes, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 230 MONROE ST. GRETNA, LA on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Orin Grant, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
