DORIS MEALANCON

Doris Mealancon departed this earthly life at University Medical Center on Monday, June 22, 2020 at the age of 64.  She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Doris was a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and English.  She was employed at West Jefferson Medical Center for many years as a Medical Secretary, until her health began to fail. Doris loved the Lord with all her heart, she was a dedicated, committed Christian and was studying to become a Nun. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Shrine of St. Jude. During her illness she was comforted by the many prayers, holy scriptures and hymns from Pastor Sterling Mealancon and First Lady Antionette Mealancon. Doris also looked forward to visits from Elder Roy Matthew and Frances Matthew who inspired her with prayers, songs, and testimonies.  Beloved daughter of the late Rev. Leon and Doretha Mealancon. Sister of the late Augustine Ruffin and Walter Mealancon.  Doris is also survived by 6 sisters, 7 brothers, 2 maternal aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Shrine of St. Jude, pastors, officers and members of Progressive Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend a Viewing at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO,LA on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 11:00a.m.-12:00 Noon.
